Bhubaneswar, July 10:
The Women and Child Development department has no specific information or data on trafficking of women and children from Odisha to other states, admitted minister Usha Devi in the State Assembly here on Wednesday.
“I will submit a list of their number in the House after receiving a detailed report from the Home department”, she said while replying to a question of Prafulla Majhi.
The minister, however, said that the state government has taken a number of measures to curb such illegal practices.
“Presently there are 29 Ujjwala projects working in the state to rehabilitate the rescued women and children of which 15 have rehabilitation centres and their infrastructure has been upgraded. This apart, to curb such incidents, district level coordination committees have been formed while 12 anti-human trafficking units have been opened”, the minister told the members.
