KOCHI: Ernakulam North police arrested a 46-year-old man from Kathrikkadavu on Thursday for sexually abusing his two minor sons.

The incident came to light when his younger son, a ninth standard student, revealed the horror during a counselling held in school.

School authorities had lodged a complaint at Ernakulam North police station on Wednesday.

Police said the accused, whose wife had passed away seven years ago, had been abusing his two sons aged 16 and 14 for the last two years.

"He had threatened the victims that they would be killed if they tell about the incident to anyone," said Honey K Das, sub inspector, Ernakulam North.

A case has been registered against the man under Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code for unnatural offences, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act.

The accused was later produced before the additional chief judicial first class magistrate court.
