Finally the Nirbhaya Fund gets put to some good use…

 

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India has set up a Central Victim Compensation Fund Scheme (CVCF Scheme) with an initial corpus of Rs. 200 crore from the "Nirbhaya Fund" to support victims of various crimes, especially sexual offences including rape, acid attacks, crime against children, human trafficking, etc.

It also requires the state governments to revise their victim compensation scheme in accordance with the CVCF Scheme if they wish to seek assistance from the Centre in this regard. The state governments will be reimbursed from the CVCF on submitting details of actual expenditure incurred on payment of victim compensation along with a record of the victims compensated.
