Meghalaya

Since 2006, HAQ and North East Social Research Centre (NESRC) have been undertaking children’s budget work for Assam. While similar attempts to study the allocation and spending for children have been made at the national level since 2000 and in other states, this is the first time it is being attempted in Meghalaya. This initiative in Meghalaya attempts at studying the financial commitments towards children, raising the serious issues of accountability through allocation and utilisation of funds and mobilizing the government, civil society, academics, activists and experts to come together for better financial planning yielding into the positive outcomes for children. In Meghalaya, we continue to work in partnership with NESRC.
