Jaya Shrivastava

Former Director of Ankur-Society for Alternatives in Education, Jaya has been working with women, young people and children in the slums of Delhi, since the early eighties.

She has been active in the Women’s movement, Campaign against child labour (CACL), Campaign for right to education, Movements for the Rights of displaced peoples, Movements for the rights of dalits and tribals, and Movements for communal harmony and peace.

Jaya has contributed to creation of alternative curricula. She has actively participated in several advocacy and lobbying initiatives for intervention in policy-making.

She has also been providing training inputs to various organizations on child-centred education, women’s issues, conflict and violence, globalization, organizational development etc.

Documentation and material-development are some of her major interest areas. Jaya has presented papers at national and international conferences.
